1 John 5-8
Living in the Light 5 This is the message we heard from Jesus[a] and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. 6 So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. 7 But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.
If we confess our sin God is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us.
Is that not good news!
I thought about several things in these verses.
Living in the light
Fellowship with each other
The power of the blood of Jesus Christ to cleanse us from all sin.
How important it is to confess our sins each and every day. These are just the sins we are aware of. I'm sure there are a multitude of sins we are not aware of. But God is good and gracious. He has forgiven us of all of our sins. Now we try to walk in the light and grow as followers of the faith.
